One of the reasons that some part of the society mistrusts the commercial banks, is the immobile and mobile property foreclosed by the banks. There is a popular notion among people: "largest part of the commercial bank assets consists of foreclosed immobile and mobile property."

"Society and Banks" focused on the issue and checked the amount and composition of the commercial bank assets.

For analyzing this data, we have reviewed data of 3 quarters for the first quarter of 2014 of five the largest commercial banks in Georgia: Bank of Georgia, TBC, ProCredit, Bank Republic ad BasisBank (Data of four quarters of Liberty Bank about such incomes were not available in dynamics).

#1 Diagram shows that, for the first quarter of 2014, Bank of Georgia has the largest amount of assets with 5, 996 mln Gels; TBC Bank takes the second place with 4,073 mln Gels;  third place - ProCredit Bank - 1,011 mln Gels; fourth place Bank Republic with 946 mln Gels and fifth place Basis Bank with 401 mln Gels. As for the foreclosed immobile and mobile property, TBC Bank takes its first place with 73,1 mln Gels, second place - Bank of Georgia with 69,6 mln Gels, third place - Bank Republic - 2,8 mln Gels, fourth place - Basis Bank - 1,4 mln Gels and fifth place - ProCredit Bank 2,7 thousand Gels. As the diagram roughly shows immobile and mobile properties foreclosed by the commercial banks, is very little in comparing with the total assets. For clearer analysis, let's review the percentage of foreclosed immobile and mobile property in the total assets of the commercial banks.

Diagram #2: Percentage of foreclosed immobile and mobile property in the total assets of the commercial banks

#2 Diagram clearly shows that TBC Bank with 1.79% share is the leader with the percentage of foreclosed immobile and mobile property in the total assets of the commercial banks; second place is taken by the Bank of Georgia with 1.16%; third place - Basis Bank - 0.37%, fourth place  - Bank Republic - 0.3% and fifth place ProCredit Bank - 0.0%. As we see indexes vary from 0% - 1.79%, which is very low, indeed.

Conclusion

Based on the analysis of the National Bank of Georgia, it was revealed that share of the foreclosed immobile and mobile properties by TBC Bank is 1.79% of its total assets, following by the Bank of Georgia with 1.16%, Basis Bank with 0.37%, Bank Republic - 0.30% and ProCredit Bank - 0%.

Summing up the above said, we conclude that the notion spread among some part of the society saying that "largest part of the commercial bank assets consists of foreclosed immobile and mobile property" - is false
